I planned to stay only one night but I decided to enjoy the resort during the whole day instead. The employees are truly welcoming and the service is impeccable. If you have any questions, they can speak a bit in English, but the most important thing is that they try their best to help you. My room was cleaned and I liked the fact that they give you free coffee and free tea. Even if I was alone, I could imagine how it would be fun to have a gathering with my friends in the games room. The place is spacious and well equipped. During my stay, I could borrow a bicycle for free and have a glance around the area. The market is near about 300 metres so you can buy or taste local foods for cheap. I went to the private beach and the accommodations there are awesome. The food was fresh and tasty, and I enjoyed my time relaxing in a hammock. I would definitely recommend to anyone to try Loc An Resort. The private beach is gorgeous, we spent a lot of time there sunbathing, as during the week its extremely quiet. If you're looking for chill out time then I would recommend. The bungalows are basic and quirky but so characterful. We liked them and stayed a few days. What made this resort, however, is the friendliness of the staff. They couldn't do enough to help you, ferrying you back and forth across the lagoon, bringing you flasks of hot water, offering you free snacks and sweets etc. The restaurant has a good menu, the dishes are huge a rarity in Se Asia!! Always Mon thru Fri, before, as already mentioned the 'hordes' from HCMC arrive. Additionally have stayed with the wife who enjoyed it, as well as a family 'TET' visit, that one wasn't so quite, as very busy at the usual TET activities - beer drinking, eating and generally carrying on, great fun. I have mentioned and taken some friends who have been impressed. It is safe for kids, as they don't get to run off that far, except when you get out over to the beach area, accessible by 'punt', don't be worried about that, the water is shallow enough to wade through, but a bit 'mucky' for my taste so I go by 'punt'. The food is good, the staff delightful. The owner and his wife both speak good English and are always helpful, should a problem arise, which is unlikely. As stated been a number of times over the years, If you want peace and quite and a chance to catch up on some reading, get a tan, drink some beer, eat some fresh cooked seafood and get a peaceful nights sleep this is the place. The place is served by a bus service from HCMC although I have never yet used it I do intend to, other than that it is taxi from Vung Tau or HCMC!!!, so yes it is a bit isolated, but that is what I feel makes the place so nice. They were fully booked for the weekend though. On one side, it was nice to be alone, on the other, it was a bit like being on a deserted place... The room was nice and clean. The bathroom was Ok, also big but not as nice as the room. The menu was Ok as well for a couple of days, although nothing special. For going to the beach we needed to cross the little lagoon that the hotel was facing. The hotel has a small boat and they brought us from one side to the other any time we wanted free of charge. On the beach, there were huts and deck chairs that we could also enjoy free of charge. However, the water of the beach was rather born and not very appealing so we didn't have a bath. The staff is very friendly and helpful but they don't speak a work of English, so be aware! We really thought they should make an effort on that side. Many of the people working there are very young and, if they want to attract western tourists we think they should make an effort learning a little bit of English. There is nothing around the hotel, so be aware of that. They have bicycles at the hotel that you can use and ride around. Facilities of a 2 stars resort, comfortable sleep, we event did not use the air condition and refrigerator. All staffs from the manager to the waiter, kitchen assitant understand what is CUSTOMER SERVICE. They are always smile or say Yes to us, that we're so happy even if they ask for 30% charge for late check out. We check in on 24 Dec 2011 and we so surprise when receive the a small bag with candies as a Noel gift. Just say WOOW when check out with "Bánh Tét" a kind of traditional cake of Loc An District and Vietnam also... You have to across the small driver to go to the beach by canoe. My son love it so much.
